2026 Summit County Calendar contest

Calling everyone who loves to photograph Summit County scenery!

We want to include YOUR photos in our 2026 Summit County Calendar. Submit now through September 30 at summitcounty.info/calendar26 for a chance to showcase your photography.

All images must:

  • Be taken in Summit County

  • Be YOUR original work

  • Be high-resolution (no smartphone photos)

Winners receive three calendars and will be featured on Summit County’s social media channels.

I-80 Roadwork updates

For the remainder of September, crews will stripe, add rumble strips, finish shouldering, add guardrail, and replace signage on the freeway near Kimball Junction.

Expect nightly intermittent lane closures on both eastbound and westbound I-80 until the project is complete. The project is currently expected to wrap up by the end of the month.

Climate Change + Public Health Speaker Series

The Climate Change + Public Health Speaker Series returns with an evening focused on “The Air We Share.”

Join us for a discussion on:

  • how nature, human activity & a changing climate affect air quality

  • how poor air days impact our health

  • and what we can do about it.

The event takes place on Tuesday, September 30, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kamas City Event Center (50 East 400 South). The event is free and open to the public. Register today at: summitcounty.info/speakerseries.

Summit County recognized as one of Utah’s 100 Companies Championing Women in 2025

Summit County is proud to announce we’ve been selected as one of Utah's 100 Companies Championing Women in 2025, a recognition of the County’s commitment to advancing women in the workplace and beyond through equity, inclusion, and opportunity.

As part of the Inspire In Utah initiative, 100 Companies Championing Women celebrates organizations across the state that have demonstrated leadership in creating family-friendly policies and practices, along with women-specific initiatives proven to impact the recruiting, hiring, retaining, and advancement of women employees, managers, and leaders.

Rural County Grant Program

Applications are still open for the Rural County Grant Program. The program is designed to address the economic development needs of Utah's rural areas.

You may apply for grant funds to support:

  • Business recruitment, development and expansion

  • Workforce training and development

  • And/or infrastructure/capital facilities improvements

The rural county grant program is a reimbursement grant and requires a 40% match.

These funding opportunities are limited so get your applications in ASAP (before September 30, 2025) if you think your business and/or organization would be a good match!
