Summit County is seeking applicants to fill five seats on the newly created Emergency Services Sales Tax (ESST) Grant Program Advisory Board.

The purpose of the advisory board is to recommend best uses for funds raised through a sales tax implemented in 2025. Emergency Services Sales Tax was approved by voters in 2024 and funds emergency medical services, solid waste disposal, search and rescue activities, law enforcement, and fire protection services.

The advisory board will be made up of the following:

  • One (1) districted member living in the boundaries of the Park City Fire District

  • One (1) districted member living in the boundaries of the North Summit Fire District

  • One (1) districted member living in the boundaries of the South Summit Fire District

  • Two (2) at-large members living anywhere in Summit County

If interested, please submit your application at: summitcounty.info/volunteer. The deadline to apply is 5 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026. For more information, contact: Amy Jones at 435-336-3042.

Roll up your sleeves for willow planting on the 910 Ranch

The Lands & Natural Resources Department and our partners at Trout Unlimited will be at the 910 Ranch on April 2 for a hands-on day of stewardship and community connection. Join us in planting willow stakes along a tributary of East Canyon Creek. This restoration project will help improve wildlife habitat and prevent erosion along the stream.

We’ll provide the tools and training. The project involves walking up to 2 miles over uneven, often muddy terrain, with the possibility of stream crossings. You will be working in or near water—we recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toe shoes or muck boots. You may want to bring sun protection.

SR-224 Bus Rapid Transit Project

Construction on the SR-224 Bus Rapid Transit project is anticipated to begin April 1, 2026, with some early preparatory work already underway. Work will take place in various locations along SR-224 between Kimball Junction and Deer Valley Drive.

Construction will occur in 3 phases between now and summer 2028 with work being suspended over the winter months (depending on the weather).

Monday, March 30 – Friday, April 3 project schedule:

SR-224 between Canyons Resort Drive and Bear Hollow Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM to accommodate temporary removal of the center medians.

Nighttime work is necessary to minimize daytime traffic disruptions and keep the project on schedule.

During construction, residents and drivers can expect:

  • Periodic lane shifts

  • Shoulder closures

  • Changing traffic patterns

The project will maintain two-lanes of travel in each direction whenever possible.
